In 1981, Michael and Anna Morra opened Michael's Back Door restaurant
in Clarkson. Head chef and
co-owner, Stephan Waespi, came on board in 1984. Since then, Michael's
Back Door has become one of
the most popular dining spots in the west end. For the past four years,
it's been the recipient of Mississauga News Readers' Choice Awards for
Best Italian Restaurant and Best Fine Dining.
The Morras are hands-on restaurateurs who really get to know their customers.
The upscale décor also
makes patrons feel at home. The romantic upstairs piano room is available to be booked for private functions.
The menu offers items such as Dover Sole, Angel Hair Pasta with Lobster
and Fettuccine with Shrimp.
There are more than 90 wines to choose from. Anna told us, "We basically
do Italian food, but each year we
change the menu to update. A new menu was introduced at the beginning
of October." Michael explained, "
We've been lucky to have the same staff in the kitchen, so although the
entrées may change, the consistency
doesn't."
